Saturday night and memories: Where did all the good times go? Verse by the poet, W.M. Feese, Jr. stirs reader's heaart on cold January night Carolyn Jean Scott Jessee writes: This simple little poem written by a member of the class of '63 stirred my heart on this cold January night. I so appreciate Jr. for taking the time to put pen to paper and coming up with such an accurate description of what a fun Saturday Night was in the 60s. I often let my mind roam those days and reminesce about what the Square looked like, the people always found parked in "their" spots and the crowds of people roaming the retail businesses until late on Saturday Night. Where did all the good times go? --Carolyn Jean Scott JesseeComments re article 64337 Poetry by WM Feese Jr The way it was Saturday Night 2014-01-11 19:15:00 | Comments | Printable version

January of 1977 was far colder than than this January thus far Billy Joe Fudge writes: According to historical weather data for Louisville, the average daily low for January, 1977 was 12 degrees which was far below the average daily low of 27 degrees for January and I believe will be far below the average daily low for this present January, to date. Although I don't have the figures at hand, according to NOAA, at that time and for the Eastern United States the winter of 1917-1918 was the closest to severity of the winter of 1976-1977 for the 20th century. I wonder how the winter of 1993-1994 stacked up with these two preceding frigid winter record holders? - Billy Joe FudgeComments re article 64528 Cold snap could have been worse state climatologist says 2014-01-11 05:47:09 | Comments | Printable version
Time for Adair residents and local doctors to support WRH I would plead with Adair Citizens and local doctors: Let's support and save this valuable establishment. WE NEED THIS HOSPITAL . . . Let's quit bad mouthing and acknowledge the good. - George Rice George Rice writes: Sue Hutchison's comments on Westlake Regional Hospital were well spoken and to be echoed by George Rice, as I, too, have recently spent some days at the hospital and as usual was treated with much professional care. Just because some PAST bad management caused much hardship on the hospital and we Adair County residents are suffering the consequences, it seems that would be ample reason for our Adair County residents and hopefully local doctors to stick together and support the our hospital. It seems that we have some great men striving to save our hospital and once again making if function properly. I would plead with Adair Citizens and local doctors: Let's support and save this valuable establishment. WE NEED THIS HOSPITAL. And a hospital can't operate without patients. Let's quit bad mouthing and acknowledge the good. --George RiceComments re article 64525 Supports Westlake Regional Hospital 2014-01-11 04:52:32 | Comments | Printable version
