Chester Bastin, 83, Middleburg, KY (1930-2014)

He was a native of Casey County, KY and a resident at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Jason Enoch and Anna Laura Thompson Bastin and the widower of Christine Elmore Bastin. He leaves 40 direct living descendants. He was a trucker driver/logger, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of Green River Christian Church and affiliated with Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Chester Bastin, age 83, of Middleburg, KY passed away on Wednesday January 8, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Yosemite, KY on December 22, 1930 to the late Jason Enoch and Anna Laura Thompson Bastin.

Visitation will be held 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Saturday January 11, 2014 at Bartle Funeral Home Middleburg, 231 Lynn Street, Middleburg, KY. Funeral Services will be held at 12pm noon CT/1pmET, Sunday January 12, 2014 at Bartle Funeral Home Middleburg, KY, with Bro. Jerel Coffey officiating. Burial will be in the Middleburg Cemetery.

Chester Bastin was born in Yosemite, Casey County, KY on Monday, December 22, 1930. He was the son to the late Jason Enoch and Anna Laura Thompson Bastin. He died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in Middleburg, Casey County, KY, at the age of 83 years and 17 days.

He was the widower of Christine Elmore Bastin.

He was a trucker driver/logger, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of Green River Christian Church and affiliated with Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include:
  • Five daughters: Donna MacNeal of Louisville, KY; Lana Weddle of Danville, KY; Lisa Napier of Yosemite, KY; Greta Haste of Waynesburg, KY; and Glenna Burke of Liberty, KY

  • Five sons: Rodney Bastin of Menasha, WI; Dwight Bastin of Russell Springs, KY; Timothy Bastin of Yosemite, KY; Kent Bastin of Hustonville, KY; and Justin Bastin of Yosemite, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Sixteen great-grandchildren

  • One brother: Raymond Bastin of Louisville, KY

  • One sister: Ruth Cline of Danville, KY
Preceding him in death besides his parents and spouse was one great-grandchild, one brother, Herbert Bastin, and one sister. Celesta Shoemaker.
