Area Aerial Album from Larry Smith & Aviator A.W. Reed

Click on headline for album intro written Monday morning, September 30, 2013. Check back as more photo(s) are added

On Sunday morning, September 29, 2013, Alan W. Reed and Larry Smith took a long flight from Taylor County Airport, and took a generally counter clockwise route around Columbia - going west to Green County, south through Western Metcalfe County, down to Burkesville and Cumberland County, on to Clay County, TN and the Dale Hollow Dam on the Obey River, then back up over Ciinton County, Russell County and Wolf Creek Dam, then over Casey County, and back over Green River Lake to Campbellsville, where Larry Smith, the photographer deplaned and pilot Alan Reed flew to his homebase, Columbia/Adair County Airport.

Along the way, Larry Smith took dozens of shots, and is sharing many of the best ones in this album, and has added comments of great interest to so many of them - especially the picture of his home in Summersville.

Wants to know where to file complaint about neglected horses

Bones were showing and 'Their manes and tails were so thick with burrs that they were tight to their skin to where they couldn't even shoo off the flies that were covering their faces!', Tamara Andrew writes.

Tamara Andrew writes:
To whom does one complain to about a bunch of neglected horses on a rural Adair County farm? While out 4-wheeling Saturday my husband and I drove by a farm (South Adair County - CM) that had at least a half dozen horses that were obviously sorely neglected! Their manes and tails were so thick with burrs that they were tight to their skin to where they couldn't even shoo off the flies that were covering their faces! You could see every bone in their bodies because the only thing growing in the pasture was burrs! This is just obvious blatant neglect! I don't know them (the people who own the horses - CM) but they definitely don't need to own horses if they can't take care of them any better than that! Don't we have a humane society or something around here to intervene for those poor animals? - Tamara Andrew
Thanks, Tamara Andrew - Why not call any law enforcement agency with juristiction. We've posted stories of cruelty to animal stories investigations by both the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY, Phone 270-384-2776 and the Kentucky State Police, and KSP Post 15, 1118 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY, Phone 270-384-4796. - CM
