Gov. Beshear: Kentucky 3rd in U.S. for mid-year auto production

State trails only Ohio and Michigan. Kentucky's light vehicle production on pace to shatter last year's total and mark third year in a row of growth

By Kerri Richardson and Terry Sebastian

FRANKFORT, KY - Consider this: if every car and truck produced in the Commonwealth this year represented a person, those newly-produced vehicles would rival the population of Jefferson County.

It's no surprise, then, that this powerful growth has added to Kentucky's reputation as an automotive powerhouse.

Letter: Loving the Weather in Joppa, KY

Maury Lewis writes:
What a beautiful August morning. It was 58 degrees this morning when I woke up in beautiful Joppa in Adair County Ky. When I walked into my kitchen there was the smell of apple butter cooking (first batch for 2013). I turned off the air conditioning and opened some windows and started dreaming about the fall of the year when leaves begin to fall and the house fills with the smell of pumpkin and pecan pies cooking in the oven. Can you tell that I do love Fall? I pray everyone in Adair County has a blessed day today. --melewi
