Letter: Loving the Weather in Joppa, KY Maury Lewis writes: What a beautiful August morning. It was 58 degrees this morning when I woke up in beautiful Joppa in Adair County Ky. When I walked into my kitchen there was the smell of apple butter cooking (first batch for 2013). I turned off the air conditioning and opened some windows and started dreaming about the fall of the year when leaves begin to fall and the house fills with the smell of pumpkin and pecan pies cooking in the oven.
