The Class of 2013 GED Graduation is Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Lindsey Wilson College John B. Begley Chapel, 302 Lindsey Wilson Street, Columbia, KY. The ceremony will begin at 5:30pmCT/6:30pmET, and a reception will follow at the Adair County Adult Education Center, 108 Lindsey Wilson Street.

The the graduating class is a large one, 24 in all.

Everyone interested in attending to show support to these individuals is welcome. Any student who has received their GED that has not already RSVPed needs to do so. All community and student RSVPs can be made by calling the Adult Education Center at 270-384-7475 or 270-384-1741. - LeAnna Bennett

Big Springs, KY, man dies of gunshot wound to the head

KSP responds to domestic dispute with reported shots fired. 32 year old Joshua Babb of Big Springs pronounced dead by Breckinridge County Coroner.

BIG SPRINGS, KY - On Saturday, June 1, 2013 at approximately 1:35pmET Breckinridge County Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a domestic dispute with shots fired.

When Troopers arrived they discovered that 32-year-old Joshua Babb of Big Springs, KY had died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The 17th Russell Creek/Homeplace on Green River Antique Tractor & Gas Engine Show will be held 7am-3pmCT/8am-4pmET, Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Homeplace on Green River, 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY. Admission is free

The show was formerly Lewis Garrison's Russell Creek Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Show.

Events include the the following:
  • Antique tractor/gas engine exhibit, competitions, parade and awards.
  • Family activies including games, pedal tractor pull and other activities for children
  • Food and music

Lauren Goodin, Cody Willis to exchange wedding vows

Eric and Jamie Goodin would like to announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Lauren Goodin to Cody Willis, the son of Steve and Connie Willis.

Lauren Goodin is the granddaughter of Bertha and the late Homer Goodin of Columbia and Sammy and Kathy Hitch of Columbia. Cody Willis is the grandson of Bernice and the late Alton Willis of Russell Springs and Peggy Harvey of Columbia.

Single vehicle crash on KY 206 takes out power for an hour

Vehicle strikes utility pole, which had to be replaced

The Adair Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle collision on KY 206/Liberty Road, Sunday afternoon. Sarah Greiner, 19, of Russell Springs, KY had just turned off of Dunnville Road and was headed towards Columbia, KY when she lost control of her vehicle, dropping down to the shoulder.
