Amazing! Chromebooks for Casey needs just $515!

Now's the time to step in and give whatever you can to see a great project reach it's goal - before the School Board meeting, at 7pmCT, April 18, 2013. One gift of $515 will do it; or 21 gifts of $25. Even if you've given before, now's a great time to "Top Off" to get Chromebooks for Casey over the line.

Patty Jones writes:
We have had two donations toward the project brought to the school in the form of checks this week from local supporters. These have not been logged onto the account but take our total needed down to only $515. --Patty Jones

C/AC Chamber Business/Professional Man of the Year

Eddie Franklin

Remarks by President Roger Meadows at Lindsey Wilson College, April 16, 2013

This year's recipient has been in the family business which he has lived since he was about eight years old.

He feels like he inherited many great attributes from his dad, who always had a positive attitude and taught the boys to think in terms of great, not just good.

He is very proud of Columbia and Adair County and in naming all of the dealerships he has made them connect to the one in Columbia by naming them after his dad. One of the things I think will make Eddie most proud about receiving this award is the fact the entire family got to share that honor with Don when he received this same award, Business/Professional Man of the Year in 1997. Eddie takes great pride in his family and works for their future. He enjoys working with his Brother Dan and his Mother Barbara in the family business. Don Jr. and Ben feel that Franklin Ford and Franklin Nissan respectively are the greatest places in the world to work.

' Eddie Jr. is going to school at Vanderbilt, but when he's here that infectious smile brightens up whichever location he goes to.

Don started the legacy of living next to the family business and Eddie and family hope to carry forth the legacy and business principles for many generations here in Columbia.

I'm sure many of you have heard Eddie say, "It truly is a great day to be alive," and "by putting God first in our lives, we truly can accomplish many things."

It's my pleasure to present the 2013 Business/Professional Man of the Year Award to Mr. Eddie Franklin. - - Roger Meadows, President, Columbia/Adair County Chamber of Commerce, April 16, 2017, at Lindsey Wilson College

Clean Up is welcome spring event

And a big reminder: Get waste to the transfer station - Strap it down, Vicky Pike says.

By Victoria Pike

I was so glad to hear we are having spring clean up. I encourage everyone to do their part to clean our community up. It sure needs it.

Now for the rest of the story. Please strap it down or cover it up once you have it loaded onto your truck or trailer. It will not stay on there as you go down the road with the wind blowing if you don't.

A L has already had a clean up crew out Burkesville Road and it looks very nice. Thanks to all those who were involved in the clean up.

Thanks in advance for getting all your trash to the proper site for disposal. - Victoria Pike

Friday April 12, 2013 Adair County High School juniors participated in the eighth annual "Safety Zone DUI Awareness." as an effort to demonstrate to our driving students the importance of driving safely and how alcohol, drugs and texting can so severely impede their driving abilities. Young drivers just don't seem to understand the immense responsibility that driving entails and how even one drink of an alcoholic beverage or the use of other drugs or texting can have such disastrous consequences. It is our hope through "Safety Zone" to get the point across to our students.
