KSP Post 15 will conduct Citizens Police Academy in Lebanon, KY Applications now being taken for class for residents of Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington Counties, KY By TFC Billy Gregory, Public Affairs Officer Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY Kentucky State Police, Post 15, Columbia, is now accepting applications for the 2013 Kentucky State Police Citizens Police Academy. The 10-week academy is slated to begin Monday, May 6, 2013 and will meet every Monday from 7pm-9:30pmCT through graduation on Monday, July 8, 2013. The Academy will be held at the David R. Hourigan Government Center, 223 North Spalding Avenue, Lebanon, KY. Attendees will learn about the many facets of the Kentucky State Police to include class room topics such as criminal patrol, criminal investigations, and drug investigations. Participants will also take part in simulated traffic stops, crime scene scenarios and evidence collection. Anyone 18 years of age living within the Kentucky State Police, Post 15 area is welcome to apply. There is no cost to attend but space is limited. Applications must be received by Monday, April 29th. Applicants will be subject to a criminal background check and will be notified of acceptance via mail or email. Those chosen to participate in the class DO NOT receive any specialized training certifications or law enforcement powers. This is an educational experience created to help increase public awareness and community oriented policing.
