The Red Bus Project at LWC March 22, 2012

The Red Bus Project will be at Cranmer Dining Center, 430 Helen Flatt Drive, Columbia, KY, Thursday, March 22, 2012, 10amCT-4:30pmCT. The Red Bus Project is designed to help orphans by buying and donating cloths. It is called the Red Bus Project because the cloths are sold from a double decker red bus. Students and community will be able to donate gently used and modern clothing no later than Thursday, March 22, 2012. Donation boxes are located in the SUB, Dining Center, Smith Hall and Phillips Hall. Purchase clothing on the traveling thrift store and proceeds go to orphan care. Buyers will be able to purchase on Thursday, March 22, 2012. in front of Cranmer Dining Center. They will also host a concert by Caleb on the quad that night. - Sarah Jo Jacobs..

Al Sullivan, Adair Co., KY (1933-2012)

He was a member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church, an educator working at Lindsey Wilson College and the Adair County School System for 44 years. During his tenure he assumed the role of a teacher, principal and superintendent. He had served in the U. S. Army and was a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #96.

Robbie Hazel Garmon, 87, Knob Lick, KY (d. March 21, 2012)

She was the matriarch of a large, respected Metcalfe County family. She leaves 139 direct living descendants. She retired after almost 40 years of service at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. She was a member of Gods House Church of God in Knob Lick, KY

L.G. (Peanut) McKinley, Adair Co., KY (1928-2012)

He was the beloved patriarch of a large Columbia, KY family. He leaves 24 direct living descendants. His marriage to Helen Fay Waggener McKinley endured a remarkable 60 years. He spent his childhood in Russell Springs, KY. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 6097, where he served as the Post Commander, Secretary and Treasurer and Quartermaster. He also served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Adair County Fair. He was the owner of M & W Auto Parts, worked for Burton Auto Parts, Waggener-Walker Newspapers and Burton Ace Hardware.

Avery Earl Ashbrook, Russell Co., KY (1922-2012)

He was a member of a highly regarded Russell County, family with strong ties to Adair County. He was a longtime resident of Adair County, where he was a merchant and United States Postmaster at Milltown, KY. He was also a former Intermediate Sunday School Department Superintendent at the Columbia Baptist Church. He was a merchnat for 35 years, a postmaster for 32 years, a Mason for over 60 years, and a Kentucky Colonel. He served in the United States Army as a private. He was a member of the Russell Springs United Methodist Church at the time of his death

Found cat - gender as yet unknown - in Little Cake

Gritty - but very sweet - little kitty has endured at least two encounters with doggish ilk, so person who adopts it must have no cat-hating canines. It's available for adoption, unless human associate of the wonderful creature calls to claim.

We have a probably abandoned kitty that has shown up in our yard.

My dad saw it the other day when he took one of his dogs for a walk in the woods.
