L.G. (Peanut) McKinley, Adair Co., KY (1928-2012) He was the beloved patriarch of a large Columbia, KY family. He leaves 24 direct living descendants. His marriage to Helen Fay Waggener McKinley endured a remarkable 60 years. He spent his childhood in Russell Springs, KY. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 6097, where he served as the Post Commander, Secretary and Treasurer and Quartermaster. He also served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Adair County Fair. He was the son of the late Roy Lee and Audrea McBeath McKinley. He died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 6 days.Inaddition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Marcia Cook , three brothers,Nathan, Billy and Danny McKinley, and one grandchild, Stewart Grant. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 6097, where he served as the Post Commander, Secretary and Treasurer and Quartermaster.
