Adair FPS team wins regional championship

ACHS Academic Competitors win another set of Regional Championships with FPS Championship, and Individual Championship won by Heather Jackson. Quick Recall Takes 3rd Place overall in Regional.
Future Problem Solving Members taking home the Regional Championship were Emmalee Baker, Roslin Wilson, Kyle Castaneda, and Sarah McQuaide. Fellow FPS members Abby Walker, Leane Blackwelder, and Amber Turner comprised the remaining members of the FPS squad preparing for Regional Championships.
Quick Recall Startersincluded Eddie Franklin, Kyle Mann, Heather Jackson, and Matt Rogers. Accompanying the Quick Recall team and their bid to Region were Timothy Watson, Katherine Blackwelder, Brittany Curry, Jessi Taylor, Anna Parson, Laura Akin, Jesse Woods, Cody Giles, and Landon Coomer.

News from Adair County High School A-Teams

Adair County High School continued the tradition of academic competition excellence in Governor's Cup Region competition on February 18, 2012 at Bowling Green High School with a pair of Regional Championships to add to their collection. The Future Problem Solving team grabbed 1st Place once again and advanced to State Finals with their championship effort.

Funeral services will be at 10amCT, Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Eric Gilbert the officiating clergy. Special music will be by Amanda Gilbert. Burial will be in Lucinda Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pm Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the funeral home.

Okey Lee Roberts, Jamestown, KY (1935-2012)

He was the patriarch of a large, respected Jamestown, KY family. He leaves 15 direct living descendants. He was a retired foundry worker Dayton Walther in Carrollton, KY and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Okey Lee Roberts, age 77 years of Jamestown, KY passed away Monday, February 20, 2012 at 3:40pmCT at the Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, KY after a long illness.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation or public viewing.

ACHS Indian, Lady Indians in 20th District Tournament

News from ACHS Pep Club

The Adair County High School Indians and Lady Indians begin District 20 Tournament play tomorrow night, Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Taylor County High School, 300 Ingram Avenue. Campbellsville, KY 42718. The Lady Indians tip-off at 5:30pmCT with the Indians following at 7pmCT.

The Lady Indians enter the tournament with a record of 24-4 and are coached by James Turner. The Indians, coached by Mark Fudge, have a season record of 19-11.

Both teams face Taylor County High School opponents.The ACHS Pep Club encourages all fans to wear blue to show their support for both teams!-Chad Parnell

Lenten Services begin Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 at CUMC

The Adair County Ministerial Association will be sponsoring Community Lenten Services from Ash Wednesday through March 28, 2012, at 12:05pmCT each Wednesday, at the Columbia United Methodist Church, 202 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY. A lunch will follow each service in the Fellowship Hall.

Various pastors and churches will be providing the service and lunches each week. The first of these services will be at 12:05pm CT, Wednesday, February 22, 2012, with Rev. Neil Janes, pastor of Columbia UMC, as the speaker. She was a native of Casey County, KY and a member of a highly regarded family. She was a retired school teacher who taught five years in Casey County and 25 in the Erlanger School System in Northern Kentucky. Sheserved as a high school counselor for 15 years, also in the Erlanger School System.
