Remembers story about Dr. M.C. Loy

Self diagnosis irritated the him, just a bit

By Von Price writes:
I just couldn't keep myself from telling a funny little story about Dr. M.C. Loy. One of my six brothers went to see Dr. Loy when he was 18 years old. He knew he had strep throat. He went in as usual and Dr. Loy said, "What seems to be wrong with you?" My Brother replied, "I have strep throat." Dr Loy ,(tyring to be funny) said, "Well, if you know what's wrong with you why are you seeing me?". Dr Loy was a great Doctor. I am sure that there are many stories that so many people could tell about Dr, Loy, Dr. Salato, Dr. Nell, and, also. and let's not forget Ol' Doc Bolin, as most people called him in my young days. Why do some businesses not put Street Numbers on buildings?

A call for better street level signage: Writer says doesn't need phone number when she has address and is looking for the business.
Martha Berry writes:
On the same subject: Why do businesses put their phone numbers in big letters on the signs in front of their business and not the street address? I can't tell you how many times I have looked for a business, had the street number and couldn't see a number from the street. I don't need the phone number when I am in my car on a busy street and looking for a particular location. - Martha Berry

Editorial: A (Green) Message to President Obama

There's a simple, cost lowering Adair County Way idea you're welcome to use.
1) Put a Truck Driver with a CDL in the Cabinet with authority to summarily dismiss all publicists in your bureaucracies who do not put Streets and Numbers for Venues in all news stories about Events. Putting Street & Number in all stories will save gas, save lives, save money and make America more competitive.

2) Fire the army of incompetent government publicists, who don't put Street and Numbers in Events announcements. Sure, they'll show you many self-congratulatory awards they receive from their Confederacy of No Talent Peers each year, but these people are worse than worthless. If you can't bear to fire them, send them home and direct deposit their checks. At least get them out of the way.
- ED WAGGENER

(We don't understand when the concept of letting people know where an Event is located is belittled. It's just a simple courtesy. Thanks to the overwhelming - almost 100% majority - who contribute to CM who remember to do so. -EW)
