Judge Shepherd orders deadline extended, old boundaries for primary elections

Life in the Commonwealth of Confusion: Franklin Circuit Judge extends filing deadlines for State Senate, State Representatives, according to old boundaries in effect before re-districting. Under ruling Adair County will be in House District 51, Adair and Taylor Counties, and Senate District 15, Adair, Casy, Pulaski and Russell Counties.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012, the Franklin Circuit Court, Hon. Phillip Shepherd, entered a temporary injunction enjoining the Secretary of State from implementing the districts for the Kentucky Senate and Kentucky House of Representatives set forth in House Bill 1, enacted by the 2012 General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Beshear on January 20, 2012.

Judge Shepherd ordered that elections for state Senator and state Representative be conducted according to the legislative boundaries that were in effect immediately prior to the enactment of House Bill 1. Judge Shepherd extended the filing deadline for candidates for state Senator and state Representative until Friday, February 10, 2012, at 4pmET.
