Records Retention Schedule for Special Education Students

Public Notice

By Alan W. Reed
News from the Adair County, KY, School District

In accordance with the Adair County School District procedures and records retention guidelines, the following special education records housed at the Adair County Board of Education will be destroyed: any records of last known activity of 2009.

This is the student's special education placement and due process folder to document student activity in the program. The folder documents dates of procedures, parental permissions, test results, psychological evaluation, IEP's, etc.

The file, especially the psychological evaluation, may be used as evidence of disability claims for Social Security (SSI) benefits. SSI uses the psychological evaluation to determine eligibility for a student.

Parties desiring a copy of records before destruction must contact Anita Goode, Director of Special Education, at 270-384-2476 not later than the close of business May 1, 2012. - Alan W. Reed, Federal Programs/ Media Relations, Adair County Schools, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY 42728

Not printed at School District or Taxpayer Expense
