100 Years Ago: Gradyville: A growing town By "Jim" This thumbnail sketch of progressive Gradyville appeared in the community newsletter published in the May 24, 1911 News: Our town continues to improve. Mr. Alfred Parson has commenced work on his dwelling, and it will be pushed through as fast as possible. Strong Hill has his carding machine up in fine shape, and is ready to accommodate his many customers at any time. Charlie Sparks will build a new blacksmith shop at once, somewhere close to his new residence, any way it will not be close to the creek. Our Methodist brethren will, at an early date, begin work on their new parsonage. They have a nice lot, and part of of the building material ready for use. Mr. J.A. Diddle also has a new dwelling under construction, and will be completed in the near future. These building are all along the same street, and we are glad to say no where near the creek. All have a high water mark. Story researched by "Jim." 2011-05-19 09:04:23 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History

But I have no doubts Dr. Fudge has good reason for stating the case as he did, and will make fu'ther revelations by and by. As best I see it, it like Velcro.
