Bert Walker, age 88 years of the Sano RD, Columbia, KY passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 6:50 p. m. at his home after an illnessHe was born on December 26, 1922 in Antlers, Oklahoma

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 10amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 200 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with clergy officiating ministers Dan Jones and Hugh Gannon. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY. Visitation 6:30pm-8:30pmCT, Friday, May 20, 2011 and after 6amCT on Saturday, May 21, 2011.

Bert Walker was the son of the late William Albert and Dora M. Farr Walker. He was born on Friday, December 26, 1922 in Antlers, Pushmataha Co., OK.He died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in Columbia, Adair Co., KY, at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 26 days.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Walker, of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Three sons: Larry Walker of Odem, TX; Melvin Walker, Jr. of Odem, TX; and Joel Walker of Schwartz, LA

  • Two step children: Patricia Ransom of Mansfield, TX; and Michael McFarland of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters: Della Fueller of Nacogdoches, TX; and Nora Holland of San Antonio, TX

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Eight great grandchildren

  • And five step great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends survive
He was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Columbia and was a heavy equipment operator.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hosparus - Hospice of Central Kentucky, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Dr., Louisville, KY 40205. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements.
