KY Afield Outdoors: Solving common fishing line problems Simple techniques can prevent backlash, loops, tangles, and birds nests By Lee McClellan News from KY Fish & Wildlife BR>My grandfather had an old, huge saltwater Penn baitcasting reel spooled with black Dacron line attached to one of the earliest fiberglass rods. A large switch on the side of the reel released the spool to cast. Your thumb controlled everything. It didnt have a spool tension control knob or adjustable braking like modern baitcasting reels. My grandfather would tie a casting dummy onto that antique rod and let the grandkids go at it in his back yard. My sister could cast better than my brother and me. Blueberry crisis hits M.E. Lewis house Last bag of last year's frozen crop just eaten. By M.E. Lewis I haven't seen very much about the blueberry festival in Edmonton this week end. Will they still be serving their great big blueberry pancakes? They are very large and very good. It seems I am always telling people where the good food is around these parts. The blueberries I bought over there last year were also great and we just ate the last bag, so I need some more to put in my freezer. -M.E. It's an account with all memories of spending time with kids who not only 'bright and creative, but just plain pleasant to be around." Complete with the cast of families who added color to the trip and enlivened the journey.
