Obituary: Irene Bryant, 94, Casey Co., KY

She was a member of a large, respected Casey County family. She was one of 13 siblings of the Sam and Leathie Vaught family. She leaves 59 direct living descendants. She was a member of the Carrs Chapel Church of God and was a housewife

Irene Bryant, 94, Liberty, KY, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Charleston Health Care Center, Danville, KY.The funeral service will be at 1pmET/12 noon CT, Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY, with Rev. Morris Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10amET/9amCT, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.



Irene Bryant, Casey Co., KY, native (1915-2010)

Irene Bryant was the daughter of the late Sam Vaught and Leathie Edwards Vaught. She was born Thursday, August 12, 1915, in Casey County, KY, and died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in Danville, Boyle Co., KY, at the age of 94 years, 10 months, and 4 days.

She was a member of the Carrs Chapel Church of God and was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Bryant.

Survivors include the following:
  • Three daughters: Nelly May Murphy, Ina Atwood, and Alma Hooten, all of Liberty, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Twenty-six great grandchildren

  • Seventeen great great grandchildren

  • Three step grandchildren

  • One sister: Dorothy Brown, Moreland, KY

  • Two brothers: Eugene and Icie Lee Vaught, both of Liberty, KY
She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Thomas Ray Bryant; one daughter, Anna Faye Bryant; eight brothers, Melvin, Vallas, Earl, Herman, Arvin, B.D., Elvin, and Sam Vaught, Jr; and one sister, Alma Monday.

Bartle Funeral Home, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements.
