Scout double-crop, late planted soybeans for soybean aphids Picture of soybean aphids accompanies this article By Nick Roy, Adair County Extension Agent High infestations of Soybean Aphids have been reported in late planted soybeans fields in Adair County this week. UK Entomologist Doug Johnson feels this is mostly due in part to the recent cooler temperatures. Soybean aphids have caused as much as 50% loss of production to many U.S. farmers since 2000, however, infestations in Kentucky fields had been non-threatening. Feedback: Doomed Hwy 61 project. Payback is hell Ed, I just saw the sad story of the Rte. 61 project getting killed. I feel your pain, Eddie, but perhaps had not your kinswoman Ann Melton aided and abetted former Governor Fletcher in draining the Highway Dept. budget ("CJE got $1,700,000 extra for county from Governor this year"--CM headline, 11-02-07), the project might still be alive. And don't forget that your fellow Adair Countians cast over two-thirds of their ballots for Fletcher -- the losing candidate -- in the election last fall ("In Adair, a GOP sweep; Governor gets 67.74% of vote"--CM headline, 11-06-07). Payback is hell, isn't it? s/L.T. Grider 2008-09-23 07:16:24 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
