Letter: Kudos for flowers; rebuttal to harsh critic

Melissa Taylor says whoever is responsible for flowers have her appreciation; but an unnamed male sibling is complaining about story. (Which the management of ColumbiaMagazine.com considers one of the very best stories ever published in this or any other publication: The Gifts of Gradyville, with the perfect photo a perfect scene: Gradyville Baptist Church. If you never read another article in ColumbiaMagazine.com, you must read this one. -ED WAGGENER)

Ed,

I am not sure who the ladies were early this morning working on the courthouse flower beds, but I certainly appreciate all their efforts! I'm sure that there are several folks involved with keeping all the flowers looking good on the square and I think they should all be commended.

Editorial comment: Supporting Existing Industry

We support Adair County Printing + Graphics Arts + Advertising Industry

We encourage local businesses to politely ask where advertising is produced when they are solicited to spend money on projects endorsed by any local tax supported organization.

It is also good to know what kind of payment the tax supported organization or institution (and, specifically the Executive Director of the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce and/or the Mayor of the City of Columbia, both of whom think, from time to time, it is their place to broker advertising sales; this is one of the few areas of strong disagreement CM has with them) is receiving in return for the endorsement arrangements. Just ask. Then weigh for yourself whether this is in your own best interest and the interest of fellow tax-paying and/or dues paying Adair County businesses.

Supporting Adair County Printing + Graphics Arts + Advertising Industry keeps money in Adair County, keeps good paying jobs here at home.

Whether it is a map, a billboard, a newspaper, t-shirt, calendar, a book, screen printed banner, yard sign, poster, or slick four color brochure, it is available from an Adair County business, an Adair County employer.

If you think it will help fellow Adair Countians, make tax supported institutions and organization aware that you want them to support Adair County businesses first. Or, at least to stay neutral.

A message from
ColumbiaMagazine.com
Proud supporter of the dynamic Adair County graphics arts existing industry

This old river city sitting proudly on the banks of the Green River holding a wealth of history maintaining the oldest courthouse in Kentucky.

Many folks who live in surrounding counties such as Adair, Taylor, Metcalfe and several other counties can take family research to a new level by starting in Green County.

Green County has the original records dating back to the creation the county and since Green County at one time on the state map extended to the Tennessee State line. Lots of families have roots to Green County.
