Editorial comment: Supporting Existing Industry We encourage local businesses to politely ask where advertising is produced when they are solicited to spend money on projects endorsed by any local tax supported organization. It is also good to know what kind of payment the tax supported organization or institution (and, specifically the Executive Director of the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce and/or the Mayor of the City of Columbia, both of whom think, from time to time, it is their place to broker advertising sales; this is one of the few areas of strong disagreement CM has with them) is receiving in return for the endorsement arrangements. Just ask. Then weigh for yourself whether this is in your own best interest and the interest of fellow tax-paying and/or dues paying Adair County businesses. Supporting Adair County Printing + Graphics Arts + Advertising Industry keeps money in Adair County, keeps good paying jobs here at home. Whether it is a map, a billboard, a newspaper, t-shirt, calendar, a book, screen printed banner, yard sign, poster, or slick four color brochure, it is available from an Adair County business, an Adair County employer. If you think it will help fellow Adair Countians, make tax supported institutions and organization aware that you want them to support Adair County businesses first. Or, at least to stay neutral.
