Championship to be decided at Joe Johnson tonight!

5th District Title is on the line for Adair County 11 year olds, vs. team from Campbellsville. Each team has won at home park. Game summaries below. Ryan Cox pitching takes first game for Campbellsville, but Dillon Wilkerson pitches brilliant game for Adair at JJLLP to tie series.

The Adair County, Campbellsville 11 year old baseball series will have a deciding game three Thursday night at Joe Johnson Little League park off Industrial Drive in Columbia, KY.

The series is tied at one game each after both teams won on the other's home field. The game will begin at 6:00pmCT, Thursday night, July 10, 2008, and will decide the 5th District 11 year old Championship.



Game One summary

The Adair County team looked a bit sluggish early Monday night, as they spotted the Campbellsville team a 2-0 lead after one inning. Adair continued to struggle at the plate and in the field giving C-ville a 5-0 lead without recording an out in the top of the 2nd inning.

Adair County called on relief pitcher Colton Back in the 2nd inning to stop the damage. Colton did a great job in relief throwing 5 innings of shutout ball allowing only 2 hits and striking out 7.

The Adair team could not figure out the C-ville pitcher Ryan Cox. Cox threw a complete game, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 7. The C-ville All-stars took game one 5-2.

Game Two summary

The Adair County 11 year olds made the trip to C-ville Tuesday night in a must win game. Zach Hutchison got the start on the mound for Adair, while C-ville started J.T. Holmes. These two young men turned in phenominal pitching performances in one of the best baseball games that you could ever see at any level.

Adair got on the board early as Colton Back scored on an RBI single from Cody Yates in the top of the first inning. Adair would hold the 1-0 led until the bottom of the 5th when C-ville finally got on the board with an RBI double by Tyler Frogge.

The game remained tied at the end of 6 innings, with both teams missing out on opportunities to score, mainly due to excellent pitching.

It would take two extra innings to decide the game. In the top of the 8th inning, with Dillon Wilkerson on first and two outs after reaching on a fielder's choice, Cody Yates singled to move Wilkerson to second. Mason Pyles stepped to the plate and delivered the game winning RBI with a two strike count, driving in Wilkerson with a single.

Wilkerson then came on to pitch in the bottom of the 8th inning after Hutchison had reached his pitch count limit. Wilkerson retired the first two hitters in order before giving up a single and a walk, then got a pop up to first to end the game.

Hutchison earned the win in a brillant pitching performance, going 7 innings giving up 1 run on 7 hits striking out 10 and walking no one. Wilkerson got the save giving up no runs on1 hit striking out 1 and walking 1.
