Dormans thank this special place: Adair County

"Crossing that county line going back to Georgetown was a whole lot harder this time than it has been in the past. It's never easy, but this time was really hard." - KELLY, LESLIE, and CODY DORMAN

To the people of Columbia & Adair County

Thank you, Adair County, for showing your tremendous support during the benefit fundraiser for Cody.

The results of the hard work everyone put into this was overwhelming! The support given to us Saturday was more than we could have ever imagined, it's been two days and we can still feel everyone patting us on the back letting us know they are there if we ever need anything.

Letter: Patient with chest pains complains of denial of treatment

Investigating problem, he finds two agencies to complain to: Office of the Inspector General in Frankfort, KY; and JCAHO, the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Organizations

Dear Editor:

Recently, I was denied health care because my provider could not find my chart and I refused to recite my lengthy medical history in a public part of the office to someone whom I did not know. That day I was so proud when I showed up to my appointment.

Over the previous 3 months I had followed the doctor's instructions, changed my eating patterns, lost 52 pounds, had my blood pressure drop so much that I was able to stop taking medicine, and went from jogging half a mile at a time to over 5 miles. My doctor asked me to keep track of my blood pressure and I had remembered to bring in the form.

The one thing that worried me, however, was that I had been feeling chest pains. I was turned away from treatment before figuring out the problem. As I left the facility I felt humiliated and like I never wanted to go there again.

Gas Price Drumbeat: What are officials doing?

LETTERS & FEEDBACK

To ColumbiaMagazine.com
What are our Columbia officals doing about our gas prices? Last Thursday I was in Edmonton, KY to pick up my brother as I often do, and noticed that gas prices in Edmonton were 3.59 while Columbia's prices were at 3.75.

Granted I know that 3.59 is still not cheap since the prices of crude oil has driven our gas prices to an almost unaffordable rate for the average salaried household, but at the same time, if Edmonton can to be cheaper and still being smaller than Columbia, don't you think Columbia could be? Maybe we need to rethink where we are purchasing our gas!

Also, the East 80 bridge, don't you think that 8 months is long enough to complete this project? What are our local officals finding out, if anything, about this project?

Thanks so much, Linda & Ed, for all that you do!s/Debbie Murray
