Clerk Sheila Blair's office had mailed 65 absentee ballots at deadline

By Ed Waggener

The counter on the absentee machine in the Adair County Court Clerk's office stood at 99 on Saturday, May 10, 2008, fifteen minutes before closing time.

The total had a significance at that time because it was the last day most of the Lindsey Wilson students who have accounted for a large number of the early machine vote were on campus.

The clerk's office has mailed ballots to 65 applicants who are using the mail to vote absentee. The deadline, at least 12 days before the May 20, 2008 primary, has passed to apply for paper ballots.

The absentee voting machine in the clerk's office will remain open until 4:00pmCT, Monday, May 19, 2008.

Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair said that ballots received in her office up to and including May 20, 2008, election day, will be counted. By law, the paper ballots must be received by 6:00pmCT, election day.

The absentee voting machine in the clerk's office will remain open until 4:00pmCT, Monday, May 19, 2008.
