Tata Motors unveils the $2,500 People's Car

"A comfortable, safe, all-weather car, high on fuel efficiency & low on emissions," Tata Motors says. Car has a base price, in India of 1-lakh, or roughly $2,500, new.

Mr. Ratan N. Tata, Chairman of the Tata Group and Tata Motors, unveiled the Tata 'NANO', the People's Car from Tata Motors that India and the world have been looking forward to. A development, which signifies a first for the global automobile industry, the People's Car brings the comfort and safety of a car within the reach of thousands of families. The People's Car will be launched in India later in 2008.

$2,500 Tata Nano introduced in New Delhi, India

TATA MOTORS luxury version of its 50-60mpg Tata Nano. It will not be available, initially, in the United States, though there is some speculation that it will be sold soon in the U.S. through Fiat. It is touted as a modern version of the Model T, and is called the "People's Car" by the manufacturer. Tata Motors is the largest automobile builder in India, and is reported, in the journals, as the most likely buyer of Ford Motor Company's Land Rover and Jaguar brands.

Two injured in Saturday accident on KY 61 in Green Co., KY

Two people were injured in an accident this morning on KY 61, four miles north of Greensburg, KY.

Britney Williams, 16, Magnolia, was operating a 2003 Chevrolet, traveling south on KY 61, and, according to the Kentucky State Police, crossed over into the northbound land of KY 61 and struck a 2006 Nissan traveling northbound on KY 61, which was operated by L.A. Bishop, 61, Greensburg, KY.

Darnells get best Christmas present ever: Tristan is here!

Tristan Wesley Darnell was born at 6:43am on December 25, 2007 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington -- the best Christmas gift Chris and I could ever receive. He weighed eight pounds, nine ounces and was 21 inches long. Tristan is welcomed home by a special big sister, Natalie Darnell. Adair firemen contain fire at Vester, KY, to cooking stove

The Adair County Fire Department was able to contain a fire to the kitchen area of the residence of Finis Burris, off Tom Roy Road, near Vester, KY.

Six ACFD firefighters responded to an alarm at 8:00pmCT, last night, Friday, January 11, 2008.

Only the cooking stove was damaged.

The firemen were on the scene for about 45 minutes, for a total of 4.5 firefighter hours.

Crossroads Quartet, Pure Gospel, featured groups
The youth of New Hope Separate Baptist Church will be having a benefit singing/chilli supper Saturday January 12, 2008, starting at 5:00pmCT.

The Crossroads Quartet and Pure Gospel will be singing. Donations will be accepted.

Adair, Co., KY Little League indoor corn toss tournament-Today!

Tournament will have $1,000 top prize, based on 64 entries

The Adair County Little League Baseball, Inc. will be hosting an Indoor Corn Toss Tournament at the Adair County VFW building at the Fairgrounds today, Saturday, January 12, 2008.

Based on a 64 team field the champions will receive $1000 and the runner up team will receive $200. Winnings will be adjusted based on teams entered. Registration will be held the day of the tournament from 10:00am until 11:30amCT, with the tournament beginning at noon.

Register early to guartantee a spot as interest has been high based on the large purse. Registration is $40 per team. The tournament will be double elimination and played by ACA rules. Concessions will be available.

LWC men's basketball routs Indiana University East 119-72

The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team never trailed beating visiting Indiana University East 119-72 on Friday night, January 11, at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders (10-7) shot 62.3 percent (48-of-77) from the field as all nine players scored in the game and five reached double figures.

Inquiries find that East 80 Bridge not past deadline

Contractor is not behind. Deadline for completion is not until April 1, 2008.
Note: This story appeared yesterday afternoon, but was not on the front page as intended

Wesley Hutchison has written a letter which says that the length of time it is taking to build the East 80 bridge is not caused by lack of effort. "I work there and we work rain or shine and the contract is very different from what people think," he said, and it is a different kind of bridge."

Mr. Hutchison was unavailable at the time of this post, but we expect to hear from him later.

Ruby Holland ask if there has been a Saint's Church in Adair County? According to her family research, her grandfather was Mitchel Albertson, born Dec 30, 1859 in Fentress County, TN, died Apr 27, 1933 in Adair County, KY.
