James Roberts: Law abiding citizens have right to defense James Roberts writes: We as human beings and law abiding citizens have a legal right to defend ourselves. Whether it be by self defense or whatever means possible. We have enough gun laws on the books already. With the FBI background checks already in place there should be a system to check for mental health problems, restraining orders or anything and I mean anything to keep you from buying a firearm when you should not legally be able to buy it to start with. All this information needs to be tied together when you purchase a firearm. Most of the questions on the FFL form are verified, but not all. I also believe that we are living in a time when more people should stand for defending our people from harm. If we need to put armed officers or armed teachers at every school, then so be it. Defense is the best offense. And remember that you don’t take a butter knife to a gun fight! Thanks, James Roberts.See also: - Page Candler: Outlaw military-like guns, like the AR-15 2018-02-18 12:29:54 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
Dave Rosenbaum: No constitutional right to drive a car Dave Rosenbaum writes: "Gun buyers should jump through the same hoops as drivers getting a license." There is no Constitutional right to have a drivers license. Perhaps it's time to change or repeal the Second Amendment. There is an established way to do it. It has been done 27 times and can certainly be done again but it involves a bit more than a knee-jerk law passed to assuage an outrage. -- Dave RosenbaumComments re article 95743 Page Candler Outlaw militarylike guns like the AR15 2018-02-18 12:27:26 | Comments | Printable version

Page: Outlaw military-like guns, like the AR-15 Page writes: The problem begins with access to guns...why is it legal to sell guns on the radio? You can be sure no background check or registration is part of the deal. A gun buyback would be a start. Outlaw military-like guns, like the AR-15. Gun buyers should jump through the same hoops as drivers getting a license. They should be certified and re-certified regularly. What a shame that people think we should teach our children and grandchildren how to hide from a gunman but it's fine if someone wants to have a weapon made to kill easily. Let them have butter knives. - Page (name and contact on file)Comments re article 95742 Amanda Wonders about preventive measures in case of shooter 2018-02-18 07:52:03 | Comments | Printable version
