This event is being held to raise money to benefit the Green River Animal Shelter, and is being sponsored by the ACES STLP (technology) Club.   • City moves ahead with Sidewalk Work & Trip Hazard elimination
  • Council approves effort to change ABC ordinance to prevent establishment of stand alone bars
  • High praise showered on LWC Malvina Farkle Day contributions; also to Adair County Garden Club, Band of Brothers for improvements to Trabue Russell House
  • Mayor Hardwick gives heads up on necessity to adopt $25 cutoff fee for late paying gas customers for later meeting
  • Chief Cross delivers Columbia Police Department Activity Report for September

In the Monday night, October 2, 2017 City Council meeting, with Mayor Curtis Hardwick presiding, the council moved forward on Sidewalk Safety measures, took an initial step to amend the city ABC laws to prevent the establishment of stand alone bars, approved a $10,000 contract with Precision Concrete Cutting trip hazard removal, resolved to adopt the Adair County Area Solid Waste Management Plan 2018-2022 update, routinely and approved minutes for September 5 regular meeting, September 7 Special Called meeting, September 11 Special Called meetings.

Four of the six council members, Linda Waggener, Mark Harris, Craig Lasley, and Pam Hoots were present, along with City Clerk Rhonda Loy and City Attorney Marshall Loy, City Police Chief Jason Cross, and City Gas Superintendent Ron Cook, were present.

Mary Ann Loy on Sidewalks: Time to quit talking, take action

Mary Ann Loy, Sidewalk Committee chair told the Council that the time for talking was over, that action needed to be started immediately.

Gracie Wood, Taylor County, KY (1925-2017)

She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY. She was a member of a respected Taylor County, KY, family, the daughter of the late Fletcher Gaddis & Frances Holmes Gaddis. She was the widow first of Dueard Gabehart, and later, of Eugene Wood. She leaves 20 direct and many step living descendants.

Dan Farr, 68, Adair County, KY (1949-2017)

Dan was a US Army Vietnam veteran. He was a farm equipment salesman at G & G Motors for many years and worked for Adanta Behavioral Services. A native of Michigan, he had amassed a host of friends since moving to Kentucky. He was the son of the late Dorothy Goodwin Slocum and Rolland Farr, who survives, as does his longtime companion, Pam Brown Farr of Columbia, KY. He leaves 12 direct living descendants.

Indictments brought against 4 individuals from Jamestown and Columbia, KY on charges including bail jumping, possession, theft of identity, and DUI.

Richard Hord, Taylor Co., KY (1962-2017)

Richard was a beloved member of the community. He was a follower of Jesus and was a member of South Campbellsville Baptist Church He was a blue-collar man who was a carpenter at heart who never took shortcuts. He took pride in the quality of his work. He loved honeybees and was an avid hobbyist of beekeeping. He also had an adoration for Ford Thunderbirds and cherished his 1978 Diamond Jubilee edition. . He cherished his time as a bus driver for Taylor County Schools over the past twelve years. He also worked for Blue Grass Way as maintenance technician and cherished the residents during his many years of service there. He held a successful business in home improvements in years past serving many clients in Campbellsville. He was the son of Shirley Berry Hord & the late Richard C. Hord. His wife 35 years, Dee Martin Hord, survives. He leaves five direct living descendants.,

KSP arrests South Carolina man on drug trafficking charges

During the course of traffic stop, troopers allegedly located approximately 11 pounds of high grade marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a large sum of cash inside the vehicle.

Ownership of the property made possible in part by contribution by Dr. Jann Aaron and Dr. Phil Aaron's son, Blake Aaron.
