Juniors and seniors at Adair County High School sat through a pair of programs Friday morning aimed to encourage healthy decision-making and illuminate the dangers of distracted driving. "Operation 10-46" and "Ghost Out" - a mock accident and mock memorial, respectively - served as a reminder to students to remain safe and avoid risky behavior Saturday before, during, and after prom.

BOWLING GREEN, KY - (Fri 21 Apr 2017) A Monroe County, Kentucky physician was sentenced by Senior Judge Thomas B. Russell, in U.S. District Court, yesterday to serve one year and one day in prison for prescribing pain medications outside the course of professional medical practice to five patients during a more than six year period, announced United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr.

Joe Marcum, 69, Taylor County, KY/Marion County, KY native (1947-2017)

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Washington Baptist Church. Joe served his country honorably in the United States Army, in the Vietnam conflict, and will be accorded full military honors at committal rites by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. He was an employee of Fruit of the Loom for 30 years and had also worked at Cox Interior. His wife of 34 years, Brenda Price Marcum, survives. He leaves two direct and two step living descendants.

UPDATE! - LIFTED 10:35amCT, Sat 22 Apr 2017: Boil Water Advisory lifted for Greenhills area

A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for consumers of Columbia-Adair Utilities District starting at
354 Heartland Circle, Greenhills Road, Mullinix Street, Moseley Drive, Maple Tree Street, Keen Drive, Ridgecreest Lane, Third Street, and Denver Street
The advisory has been issued due to a main line leak.

Following such an event, the potential existsfor bacteriological contaminaton ofthe water supply, therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking. Bring the water to a roiling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the sitaution has been corrected and text results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. For further information concerning the Boil Water Advisory, contact Lennon Stone at Columbia/Adair Utilities District, 270-384-2181.

Alzheimer's talk at CU free, open to public

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY - Do you want to learn more about Alzheimer's dementia?

Campbellsville University's Department of Psychology will host Dr. Ben Mast, associate professor and vice chair of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville, who will speak on Alzheimer's dementia from 5pm until 7pmET Tuesday, April 25 at Campbellsville Baptist Church, 530 N. Central Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.

Mast is a licensed clinical psychologist and a board certified clinical geropsychologist. His talk is titled "Responding to Dementia: Alzheimer's and Caring."

Philip Curtis Whitlow, 89, Summer Shade, KY (d. 19 Apr 2017)

COLUMBIA, KY (Thu 20 Apr 2017) - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped both games of a Mid-South Conference doubleheader to Pikeville (KY) on Thursday, 14-2 and 5-4.

The Blue Raiders drop to 26-22 and 10-7 in MSC play. Pikeville's record improves to 22-20 and 5-12 in conference action.

Pikeville out-hit the Blue Raiders 29-13 and tallied nine extra-base hits, including four home runs. Lindsey Wilson blasted two homers - one in each game.

Matthew Combes' day did not start like most of his classmates'. Instead of heading to class Thursday morning, the senior at Adair County High School went to work at Joe Brown Auto Body Repair, just as he had the day prior and the day before that. Under ACHS' Community Work Transition Program (CWTP) - which aims to develop skills and find employment opportunities for exceptional students - Combes works from 8 a.m. until noon, and then heads back to school.
