Customers spoke, Greens listened, and Crank & Boom was born

The demand for ice cream led the Greens to launch Crank & Boom in 2013 as a side business at Lexington Farmers' Market. Crank & Boom Ice Cream is now sold by more than 40 restaurants and retailers, including the nation's largest grocery chain, Kroger.

LEXINGTON, KY - Mike and Toa Green's business philosophy is to let customer demand dictate their business decisions.

In 2011, the couple, who owned Thai Orchid Cafe in Lexington, decided on a whim to add a new dessert to the menu of their Kentucky Proud restaurant. Coconut ice cream, popular in Thailand, was added because it pairs well with spicy Thai dishes.

Carlus Chumbley, 75, Russell Co., KY (1941-2017)

He was a farmer. He was a native of Russell County, KY, a resident of the county at the time of his death, and his final resting place will be in the county of his birth. He was the son of the late John Wiley & Ermine Roy Chumbley. His wife, Vivian Sue Chumbley, survives.

LWC men's tennis picked to win 2017 MSC Title

The Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team was selected to finish first in the Mid-South Conference, according to the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll announced by the Conference office on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders garnered 36 total voting points and six first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

Kentucky beekeeping schools set for 2017

ABC responds to industry growth

Alcoholic Beverage Control priorities include improving customer service, streamlining applications

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky's alcohol landscape is changing, and the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) works daily to ensure that it matches industry growth with exceptional and efficient customer service.

ABC is responding to changing industry and licensing demands by streamlining procedures and improving internal operations to better assist applicants and licensees. Senate Bill 11, which was signed into law last year, gives greater autonomy to local territories to hold "wet"/"dry" elections and develop alcohol ordinances. The department works with localities across the state to ensure the process is understood and that economic opportunities are maximized.
