Letter: Thankful for right to vote

Chris Reeder writes:
How about we all just be thankful we have the right to vote in this election and other upcoming elections. There's been enough complaints and negative comments about our great town and it's great people. We voted and was there about 30 minutes. Got to see people we hadn't seen in a while and do some catching up. I'd rather think the glass is half full. --Chris Reeder

Marcia M. Shuffet for in-between Wet & Dry

By Marcia M. Shuffett
Personal Commentary

I am not well-versed with what this actually means (but have been trying to find out), but if Wet/Dry means exactly like it sounds which to me is all or none, then in my unasked- for opinion, neither would be really appropriate for a town this size.

Darrell Treece comments on Wet/Dry issue

By Darrell Treece
Personal Commentary

I am a property owner, tax payer, legal resident and registered voter in Adair county. Even though I am currently working in Missouri, I still keep up with the happenings in Adair County on CM. I have read the comments put on CM concerning the wet/dry vote with mixed emotions - sometimes amusement, sometimes anger, sometimes agreement, sometimes trepidation, sometimes sadness. I very seldom respond to or engage in public forums on issues such as this.

However, as a retired Adair County school superintendent and a former pastor at Russell Heights Baptist Church in Columbia, I feel compelled to share my personal views on the wet/dry election.

Senator Max Wise Legislative Update 4 Mar 2016

PERSONAL COMMENTARY
Click on headline for complete report to the people

By State Senator Max Wise, (R-Campbellsville)
16th District: Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne Counties

FRANKFORT, KY (Fri 4 Mar Feb 2016) - The Kentucky General Assembly crossed another mile marker this week by reaching the deadline for the introduction of new bills in the state Senate, while still anxiously awaiting a budget bill from the House of Representatives.

With this deadline now passed, there is a more complete view of the issues that will be taken up this year. The remaining bills address a mix of familiar issues and new problems. Some attempt to address the age-old struggle to balance the separation of church and state, while others address crimes perpetrated with technology our founding fathers could only imagine. Some measures drew bipartisan support while others were vigorously debated by both parties.
