Louise Brock, 96, Adair Co., KY (1919-2016)

She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Columbia Woman's Club, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce, the Adair County Women's Democrat Club and was very community minded. She owned and operated Vaughn's Smart Apparel for many years. She was the matriarch of a highly distinguished Adair County family. She was the daughter of the late John Green and Laura Lee Duncan Cates of Logan County, KY and the widow of Otto Brock. She leaves 28 direct living descendants to continue her legacy. She made us all better people for having known her.

Louise Brock, 96, of Columbia, KY, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 6:25amCT, at Signature Health at Summit Manor in Columbia, KY.

The funeral service for Louise Brock will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 11amCT, at Columbia United Methodist Church, 202 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Neil Janes officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation on Monday, March 7, 2016 from 4-8pmCT and Tuesday from 6am-9:30amCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, and after 10amCT, Tuesday at the church.



Louise Brock, 96, Adair Co., KY (1919-2016)


She was born Monday, June 2, 1919, in Russellville, Logan County, KY. She was the daughter of the late John Green and Laura Lee Duncan Cates. She died Saturday, March 5, 2016, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 96 years, nine months, and three days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Brock and her son, Dr. Larry Brock.

She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Columbia Woman's Club, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Chamber of Commerce, the Adair County Women's Democrat Club and was very community minded. She owned and operated Vaughn's Smart Apparel for many years. Survivors include:
  • Two daughters, Marsha (Richard L.) Walker and Vicki Miller all of Columbia, KY

  • One brother, J.G. Cates, Jr., of Russellville, KY

  • One sister, Laura Lee Stuart of Russellville, KY

  • Eight grandchildren, Liegh Ann (Mike) Parkinson of Bowling Green, KY; Dicky (Amy) Walker of Columbia, KY; Lisa(Bernie) Brock Felio of Florida, Laura Brock of Elkton, KY; Brad (Lachana) Scholl of Columbia, KY; Brock Scholl of Lebanon, KY; Lyle Miller of Lebanon, KY; Lindsay (Brandon) Miller Lee of Columbia, KY

  • Ten great-grandchildren, Katy (Seth) Coomer, Abby Walker, Drake Duncan, Derek Suiter, Chance, Chad, Brett, Jodessi and Daezon Scholl, and Grayson Lee
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Columbia United Methodist Church in her memory. These may be made at the funeral home or church.
