Poetry by Robert Stone: Who reaches out

Who reaches out
~ a sonnet for the birthday of Terri Powell Haight
We creatures in our place accept the one
who reaches down to tend the growing plants,
ignoring time until the job is done,
embracing opportunities life grants.

We whom you would embrace would you embrace
who reaches in and warms our very souls,
providing hope until the final race,
preventing falling into hidden holes.

We friends in need of grace crave helping heart
who reaches up to touch the tender spots,
relieving hurts until the healings start,
promoting helps as circumstance allots.

All love the one with easily read face
who reaches out but keeps between safe space.
~ Robert Stone, 29 October 2015
