Manhunt is over. Floyd Ray Cook killed in gunfire exchange

Fugitive was found on an embankment near a residence seven miles south of Burkesville (near, as reported by local residents yesterday afternoon, the Willis BBQ at 7108 Celina Road in Cumberland County) around midnight this morning. He was encountered by one U.S. Marshal and two KSP Officers. Cook had a handgun and shots were exchanged. Cook was pronounced dead at the scene by Cumberland County coroner. - CM

BURKESVILLE, KY - (1:21amCT -Fri 30 Oct 2015)– At approximately 12:21amCT, Post 15 received communication from units at the search site that shots had been fired.



During the course of searching an embankment near a residence on KY 61 approximately 7 miles south of Burkesville, two KSP Troopers and one U.S. Marshal encountered Floyd Ray Cook.

Cook had a handgun and gunfire was exchanged. Cook was wounded and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cumberland County Coroner. No officers were injured.
