The 16th Kentucky Senate Race at a glance

Max Wise carries Adair, Clinton, Russell and Taylor Counties. Sara Beth Gregory wins in Cumberland, McQueary and Wayne. The vote with all seven counties reporting, is Wise - 14,037; Gregory, 11,743.

Max Wise of Campbellsville won an impressive victory tonight to capture the 16th Kentucky Senate seat, wresting it from incumbent Sara Beth Gregory by a margin of 2,284 votes district wide.

Wise carried 4 of the seven counties in the district, Adair County, Taylor County, Russell County the new counties in the district, by big margins, won Clinton County
by a narrow vote, and lost Cumberlandnarrowly.

2014-05-20 - Main Street, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Larry Smith. Campbellsville celebrated into the night with the victory by Max Wise in the Kentucky 16th Senate District. He's getting a big hug from 51st District Representative Bam Carney the middle of Main Street. Brothers BBQ restaurant furnished barbecue and the party was originally supposed to to held inside. When the large restaurant proved too small, Mayor Tony Young had two blocks of Main Street cordoned off. LWC's Espinoza, Morales and Charters earn NAIA Men's Tennis All-America Honors


Morales earns his fourth-consecutive NAIA All-America honor

News from Lindsey Wilson College

Edberg Espinoza, Fabricio Morales and Francisco Charters have earned NAIA Men's Tennis All-America honors, the national office announced on Monday. Espinoza was named a First Team selection, Morales was named to the Second Team and Charters earned Honorable Mention honors.

The trio helped the men's tennis program at Lindsey Wilson College reach the national quarterfinals before falling in a tightly contested match to Vanguard (Calif.) 5-4.

4 at LWC earn NAIA Women's Tennis All-America honors

Four Blue Raiders earned NAIA Women's Tennis All-America honors, the national office announced on Monday. Alejandra Galvis and Sarah Bernos were named First Team selections, Alicia Rodriguez was named to the Second Team and Anna Gaprindashvili earned Honorable Mention honors.

The four women helped the women's tennis program reach its sixth national semifinals on Friday before falling to eventual national champion Georgia Gwinnett.

Narotm J. Patel, Taylor County (1941-2014)

Mr. Narotm J. Patel passed from this life at his home in Campbellsville on May 17, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was 73 years of age. Mr. Patel was born in Deusana, Kadi, Mehsana, Gujarat, India to the late Jivram and Puriben Patel. He was a farmer by trade in India, and continued that occupation, as well as becoming a successful businessman, after he became a citizen of the United States.

Letter: 16 Goslings is Possible

The way to know that for sure is to have seen the nest where the eggs were laid and then hatched. In our experience, we have seen a nest with eleven eggs and all of them hatched.This was last year. So I would think if 11 hatched, then certainly more than likely 16 eggs hatched at the same time. But these eggs are quite large so that is another problematic factor. --Tine Reynolds

James Thomas Puracchio, Taylor County (1954-2014)

Mr. Puracchio was an accomplished high-performance mechanic, having worked on several professional teams and winning numerous awards throughout his lifetime. Some claimed he could even rebuild a racing transmission blindfolded. He was the owner of Jim's Performance in Campbellsville, KY, but he often felt that his biggest contribution to the sport he loved (drag racing) was in the work he did for the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge, a non-profit which has raised over 2 1/2 million dollars in scholarship money.

LWC launches online Master's Program in Interactive Design

New farmers market Wednesdays at Acton Retreat
