Mrs. Theresa Lyn Pavlik, Adair County, KY (1962-2014)

Mrs. Pavlik was a former department manager at Wal-Mart. She had professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Praise Assembly of God in Columbia. Mrs. Pavlick was a loving and very kind-hearted woman, and often volunteered in the food pantry at her church. Her husband, rodney Allan Pavlick, survives. She leaves 4 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Theresa Lynn Pavlik, 54, of Columbia, KY, passed away on April 28, 2014 in Campbellsville, KY.

A memorial service for Mrs. Pavlick will be held at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY 42718, on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 1pmCT/2pmET, with Bro. Bob McCann officiating. The family welcomes visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 12pm noon CT/1pmET until time for the service.

Phillip (Shug) Dunbar, Russell Co., KY (1941-2014)

He was a native of Russell County, KY, and a resident at the time of his death. He was the son of hte late Omra & Bernice Rexroat Dunbar. He leaves many relatives in Adair and Russell Counties, including four children in Columbia, KY, among a total of 13 direct and three step living descendants. He was a drywall finisher.

Two Metcalfe Co. men arrested following shooting incident

KSP, in early morning, responded to report from Jonathan A. Greer that he had been shot

Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, KY

EDMONTON, KY - - 37-year-old Michael Wayne Bennett and 38-year-old Edward Terry Brooks, both of Edmonton, have been arrested and charged with Assault 1st. Bennett was arrested today at 2pmCT, at his residence, at 11693 Edmonton Road, Edmonton, KY. Brooks was arrested today at 5:05pmCT, at his residence, at 5051 Greensburg Road, Edmonton, KY.Both will be lodged in the Barren County Jail. Jonathan W. Greer remains in serious but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing at this time. - TFC Wm. Gregory .

ACHS student-run greenhouse is now open

The Adair County High School Student Run Greenhouse, 176 FFA Drive, Columbia, KY, is now open. Hours of Operation are Monday-Friday 8am-4pmCT and Saturday 8am-12pm noon CT. The Greenhouse is closed if we are experiencing bad weather. Limited supplies!!! Things are packed and sold in cell packs, individual pots, or baskets. We have: Red Geraniums, Dahlias, 5 types wave petunias, regular petunias, marigolds, mixed cockscombs, periwinkles, dragon wing begonias, wax and tuberous begonias, blue salvias, impatiens, sweet potato vines, coleus, Osteosperm, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, 20 varieties tomatoes, And more! KYEM monitoring possible severe weather later today

Kentucky Emergency Management also receiving reports from storm damage last night. Commonwealth spared the vast destruction visited on neighboring states, but news from scattered areas received: Fulton County officials reported damage to church and residence; a Powell County man struck by lightning; 490 Kentucky Utilities customers without power in Harlan County today, down from 6,700 last night. National Weather Service places state in slight risk category for storms tonight.

FRANKFORT, KY (April 29, 2014) - Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM) has received reports of scattered storm damage from yesterday's storms, while neighboring states are reporting vast destruction and loss of lives.

The National Weather Service places Kentucky in the slight risk category for possible severe weather late this afternoon and evening as a threatening weather system continues to linger to our south.

KSP Post 15 investigating shooting off KY 70 near Metcalfe/Barren Co. line

32 year old man phones report that he had been shot and was on Black Dot Road. The man, found at the scene, taken to T.J. Samson Hospital, Glasgow then airlifted to UL Hospital in Louisville, where he's reported in "serious but stable" condition as of 11:43amCT, today. Also responding to the scene: Barren County Sheriff's Office, Barren/Metcalfe EMS, and Hiseville Fire Department

Career/Technical Education Night Out delayed to May 1, 2014

School officials postpone the big event two days. Will be at 5pmCT, Thursday, May 1, 2014 instead of tonight

Due to the predictions of possible storms this evening, the Career/Technical Education Night Out scheduled for 5pmCT, Tuesday, April 29, 2014, is cancelled and re-scheduled for Thursday, May 2, 2014, at Adair County High School, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. The public is welcome to attend. Staff will be helping students understand new educational opportunities available and showcasing current successes. We look forward to sharing our students great work and future fields of study with the community. Hazardous Weather Outlook: Chance of thunderstorms today

The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued this this Hazardous Weather Outlook, at 2:52amCT, for the area for today, Tuesday, April 29, 2014:
"Heavy rains yesterday and early this morning have brought many streams and small rivers up to bankful. Motorists this morning should use caution around any low water crossings or low spots along any rural roads.

"Scattered thunderstorms will likely develop along and east of interstate 65 late this afternoon and evening. A few of these storms could become strong to severe...With damaging winds and large hail."

Gov. Beshear ceremonially signs anti-bullying bill

FRANKFORT, KY - Surrounded by hundreds of students at Madison Middle School, Gov. Steve Beshear today ceremonially signed Senate Bill 20, which designates October as "Anti-Bullying Month" each year in Kentucky.

Mr. William (Bill) Lingle, Green Co., KY (1930-2014)

He was a native of Green County, KY, and a resident at the time of his death. He was the son of he late Earl Preston Lingle and Melvina Jane Mudd Anderson Lingle and the widower of Mary Lou Graham Lingle. He leaves 16 direct living descendants. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church. He had a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He was a retired security guard for Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #774 in Louisville, KY.

Mr. William "Bill" Lingle, 84, Greensburg, KY, departed this life Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

A Masonic Service was held at 6:30pmCT, Monday, April 28, 2014, by the Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F & AM at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, with the funeral service, with Rev. Dale Curry officiating, immediately following the Masonic Service. Committal service Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Greensburg Mausoleum.
