Phillip (Shug) Dunbar, 72, of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Russell County Hospital.

Funeral service for Phillip "Shug" Dunbar will be 12pm noon CT, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY. Burial will be in the Rexroat Cemetery.

He was born Sunday, July 6, 1941 in Russell County, KY. He was the son of the late Omra & Bernice Rexroat Dunbar. He died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 72 years, 9 months, and 23 days.

He was a drywall finisher.

Survivors include the following:
  • Five children: Kelly (Fred) Shepard, Russell Springs, KY; Jeff (Laurie) Dunbar, Cindy (Mike) Brockman, Phil (Melissa) Dunbar, and Pam (Doug) Vanarsdale, all of Columbia, KY

  • Step daughter: Angel (Chris) Hadley, Russell Springs, KY

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Two step grandchildren

  • Sister: Phyllis (Clifford) Loy, Mt. Washington, KY

  • A very special friend: Reva Decker

  • Special friends: Katherine Grider, Phil Trotter, and Jackie Bolin
