Gladys Willis, Adair Co. KY. Metcalfe Co., KY native (1933-2014)

She was a native of Edmonton, KY, and a resident of Columbia, KY at the time of her death. She was a member of a highly regarded family. Her husband of over 61 years, L.C. Willis, survives. She leaves 8 direct living descendants. Mrs. Willis was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church and was active in the Columbia United Methodist Women and other church committees, she was retired from Houchen's Market where she worked for 27 years as a grocery checker.

In a very few minutes, Superintendent Alan Reed will throw out the first pitch as Coach Mike Mantooth's 2014 Adair County Indians baseball team hosts Washington County High School (Springfield, KY) at 5pmCT Friday, March 14, 2014, at ACHS Indian baseball field, 326 Gen. John Adair Drive, Columbia, KY.

The ACHS field is in beautiful condition for the opener. The temperature is comfortable, and the skies are gray, and winds will be a factor in the game. Cumberlands WIB a High Impact Workforce Investment Board

Cumberlands Workforce Investment Board, serving Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, Wayne, and Whitley Counties of Kentucky, has been designated High Impact Workforce Investment Board status

FRANKFORT, KY (Friday, March 14, 2014) - Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Secretary Thomas O. Zawacki announced today that Cumberlands Workforce Investment Board has been certified as a High Impact Workforce Investment Board (WIB).

The High Impact WIB initiative, launched by the Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (KWIB) and the cabinet in 2010, encourages local boards to strive for excellence and be innovative leaders in workforce development in the community.

Charlotte Elaine Burris Wesley, Casey Co., KY (1928-2014)

She was the beloved matriarch of a highly regarded, distinguished Casey County, KY, family. She was the daughter of Dr. Lewis E. Wesley, and the mother of Dr. Bradrod Wesley, who survives. Stanley (Jack) and Rena Allen Burris and the widow of She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association since she graduated in 1949 and a Big Blue Fan. She was a real estate broker/salesperson. She was an active member of The Central Kentucky Woman's Club of Lexington for many years and served on numerous committees.
