(Ad) Six hour CE class for electricians at Adair Annex

Tuesday, January 21 & Thursday, Jnuary 23, 2014

On Tuesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 23 there will be a 6 hour continuing education class on the 2014 National Electrical code for Electricians and Master Electricians. This class is for the renewal of their ME an EE electrical license and will be located in the courthouse annex basement. The class starts at 5:00 PM and will last until 8:00 PM each night.

The first hour of the Tuesday night class will cover the Commonwealth of Kentucky's new requirements on Electrical permitting for all 120 Counties. This portion of the class is open to whomever desires to gain knowledge on the subject at no charge.

She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the lae Joe Ed and maudie Baxter Miller. Her husband, James Paul (Buck) Bell, survives. She was a former employee of Liberty Sportswear, Liberty, KY.

Velma Spires, Knifley, KY (1929-2014)

She was the beloved matriarch of a large, highly respected and talented family with deep roots in Adair and Taylor Counties of South Central Kentucky and elsewhere. Mrs. Spires had professed her faith in Christ, followed in believers baptism, attended the Kellyville Community Church and was a homemaker. She was a native of Taylor County, KY a former resident of Knifley, Adair County, KY; and a resident of Taylor County at the time of death. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Effie Lewis Bright. She was the widow of the late William Spires. She leaves 52 direct living descendants.

She was a gifted singer who performed often at Columbia's Dream Depot, where audiences favored the spirtual songs she wrote herself, including "Bought with a Price."

Gill developed his HueHueHue app out of personal necessity. "I own Philips Hue lights which are supposed to make your life easier," he said.

Homecoming 2014: Adair Boys defeat Metcalfe; ACHS Girls win

Homecoming win is 4th in a row for Coach Mark Fudge's Adair County Indians. Adair County Girls win 59-39 for 9th win of season, snapping 2 game losing streak. Next Adair County Indian Boys Basketball (11-6) hosts Marion County at 7pmCT, Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Adair County Girls (9-5) host Marion County at 5:30pmCT. at Adair County High School Gym, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. Tuesday night will be Student Appreciation Night. All Adair County students will get in to the games free.

The Adair County Indians came away with their 4th straight win with a 62-50 victory over the Metcalfe County Hornets. Junior shooting guard Zach Hutchison scored 10 first quarter points as the Indians jumped out to a 24-10 lead. The Hornets outscored the Indians 15-13 in the second period to cut the Indians lead to 37-25 at halftime.

Senior forward Ty Bennett scored six third period points to help the Indians hold on to a 48-39 lead after three quarters. Senior point guard Matt Fudge scored 7 of his team high 18 points in the final period to help the Tribe pull away 62-50.
