Vatis Allen passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at her home in Louisville, KY. She was 89.

Funeral services will be at 12pmCT/1pmET, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 3085 KY 1547, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Mike Pitzer officiating. Burial is in Whited Cemetery. Visitation is 4pm-6pmCT/5pm-7pmET, Monday, January 20, 2014, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 756 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, and Tuesday from 7am-10:30amCT/8am-11:30amET, at the funeral home, and 11amCT/12pm noon ET, until funeral service at the church.


Vatis Allen, Casey County, KY (1924-2014)

Born Sunday, March 16, 1924 in Casey County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jess B. and Susie Atwood Fights. She died Friday, January 17, 2014, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 89 years, 10 months, and 1 day.

She was a homemaker and member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Louisville. Mrs. Allen is the widow of Rev. Arvil Allen, who passed away September 16, 2010.

Survivors include the following:
  • A son: Philip (and Sylvia) Allen of Bowling Green, KY

  • Daughter-in-law: Anna Allen of Louisville, KY

  • Five grandchildren

  • And ten great-grandchildren
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, William A. Allen; three brothers, Bill, Vitus and Edward Fights; and a sister, Ruby Whited. Send a condolence to the family of Vatis Allen
