A very PLEASED citizen - who chose Columbia - writes

Tisha Paris writes:
Thank you Mrs. Cole for your sincere words. It is a complete honor to know that the officials in and all around the world will be doing "their chosen calling during all holidays"! The families of these men and woman who keep order and protect our families on a day to day basis, I feel are the ones that lose out. In the mean time we take advantage of the fact that they will be there when we need them! I am also guilty of this statement. I am a very PLEASED citizen of Columbia! I chose to call this place home. My family and I have always felt welcomed, respected and protected by all current officials, whether it be City, State or County. With that said I would like to wish all families and friends reading this a Very Merry Christmas. May all your wishes and dreams come true! Sincerely, - Tisha Paris, TaP's Diner

A policeman's Christmas

By Tricia Cole

At 5amCT on Christmas morning, my husband won't get to put on a Santa suit and hand out gifts to his children. Instead, he will get up, put on his uniform, and go to work as a police officer. This is only one of the many sacrifices our family has made for his job.

He has missed many family gatherings, church services, meals together, and our child's ball games because of his job. No amount of money can compensate for the sacrifices that are made to do his job. He knew the salary, which is a far cry from $50,000 as some seem to think, and the sacrifices that would be required when he took this job. However, he chose to make these sacrifices to perform a service that he truly loves.

So this holiday season as you are safe, healthy, and enjoying time with your family, please take a moment to remember all the police officers, soldiers, firefighters, EMT workers, nurses, doctors, and many others who are away from their families at this time because . . . duty calls.

Sincerely,
A Police officer's Wife --Tricia Cole
