ADAIR Band takes 2nd Place in State AAA KMEA Band Contest

UPDATE 10:22 from I-65, 32 miles north of Elizabethtown, KY: The Band will return to a Hero's Welcome, with full Congratulatory Escort, at approximately 12pm noon CT. The route will be: S. on Campbellsville Street, Around the Square and South on Jamestown Street, Across Tutt, South on Burkesville, Across Hudson to Walker, Walker to Greensburg, Street, and back to homebase, The Band Room/Raymond Lacy Music Building, 230 Gen. Marie Noel Thomas, Casey County, KY (1931-2013)

Marie was devoted to her family , she was a member of the Indianapolis Baptist Temple and attended the Grace Baptist Church. She love quilting, gardening, working in her flowers and watching birds. She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of Greenwood, IN. Her marriage to her beloved husband, Glenn Thomas, who survives, endured over 63 years. She leaves 19 direct living descendants

James Allen Wallace, 77, Metcalfe County, KY (d. Oct. 25, 2013)

He was the son of the late Olan Wallace and Georgia Duke Blaydes Robertson. He was a retired carpenter, member of the Grace Union Baptist Church and served in the Army National Guard. He leaves 27 direct living descendants

Louisville, KY (3:35pmCT, Saturday, October 26, 2013) - Four of the Sweet Sixteen Semi-Finals Bands advance to the State Finals tonight, Adair County, Columbia, KY; Bourbon County, Paris KY; Garrard County, Lancaster, KY; and Russell County, Russell Springs, KY.

Tonight's Schedule for the State 3A Championship is as follows:
  • 07:00pmCT/8pmET - Bourbon County High School
  • 07:15pmCT/08:15ET - Garrard County High School
  • 07:30pmCT/08:30ET - ADAIR County High School
  • 07:45pmCT/08:45ET - Russell County High School
ADAIR Band really put on a great performance in the semi-finals.

The Semi-Finals were held at Eastern High School. Tonight's championship competition is at the University of Louisville's Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, at the Kentucky State Fair and Exposition Center. There's still plenty of time to drive on up and join the fun! The winners are to be announced at around 11pmET tonight. - Shamarie Claiborne

The phone rang this afternoon as I was slicing apples into a pan for apple crisp-a fitting and homey dish for a chilly day. I laid down my knife, and caught the phone on the second ring.

Our neighbor, Dale Hayes, never identifies himself when calling, but we know his voice.

Columbia should be a part of the state "Main Street Program." In the past two months The State Director, Kitty Dougoud, has met with the Mayor, Ellen Zornes, President of the Adair Heritage Association, and myself. The next step is to get the Mayor to hire a half time employee to be the Main Street Manger. This will have to be supported by the City Council.

ACHS football beats Hart County 27-18; even season in sight

Thanks to last night's 27-18 victory over Hart County, Adair County High School can now eye a 5-5 season, if there's a victory in the next, at 7pmCT, Friday, November 1, 2013 game at Adair County Football Stadium, 623 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY when the Indians meet Casey County.

The Indians are showing the same brilliance which got them off to a 3-0 start before losing five in a row (only one at home, against perennial power Monroe County.

The ADAIR Band The ADAIR Band will be starting their quest towards their 21st State KMEA State Championshipwill be going for its 21st State KMEA State Championship , when it performs at 1:30pmCT/2:30pmET today, Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the KMEA SMB AAA Semifinals at Eastern High School, 12400 Old Shelbyville Road, (Middletown), Louisville, KY.

  • 07:15amCT The ADAIR Band will be at the Band Room, this morning where at light breakfast will be available
  • 08:00amCT The Mighty ADAIR Band Convoy rolls
  • 10amCT/11amET - ADAIR Band arrives at Eastern High School
  • 02:30pmCT/3:30pmET - ADAIR Band performs in Semi-Finals!
The four top bands from the semi-finals will go on to the finals at University of Louisville's Cardinal (Papa John's) Stadium, 2800 S. Floyd Street, Louisville, KY, this evening.

Today's semi-finals program starts at 10amCT/11amET, with the first performance of the Sweet Sixteen starts with Covington Holmes performing.

LWC shows appreciation at Endowed Scholarship luncheon

President Luckey says Endowment has more than doubled since 2010. Lindsey Wilson Trustee David Perry of Boston is keynoter at event. 'Great colleges have a true sense of place that goes beyond the physical,' he said, 'This is the beacon on the hill. ... And I think miracles have, will and do happen here every day, for sure.'

COLUMBIA, KY- People who change lives were honored Friday, October 25, 2013 at Lindsey Wilson College's Trustee Appreciation & Endowed Scholarship Recognition Luncheon.

LWC President William T. Luckey Jr. told the more than 225 guests at the Roberta D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center how the college's endowed scholarships change lives.

"I can't imagine anything more meaningful than the opportunity to impact lives here on this campus," he said. "In fact, that's what you do -- impact lives here on this campus through the endowed scholarships you've established."
