By Victoria Pike

I believe that Miss Martha, as I always called her, can surely convince the Good Lord to give us a sunny day for our bake sale June 15, 2013. If anyone could, it would be her. In our most desperate situations Miss Martha could convince people to do things here on earth that none of the rest of us could.

Appreciates 1941 auto ID by Rickie Willliams

Jon Halsey writes:
Well actually some do care Mr. Williams. 1941 was a very good year indeed. Momentous events and even an occasional momentous Birth date.

Tho there's been many a slip twixt then and now (cars included), I wouldn't trade the experiences and memories from then to now.

And tho I dearly love the old classic cars and have many fond memories of quite a few of them, I do have to admit that while today's models lack the pizazz and are a total mystery under the hood, they are a superior product.

Bradley Jeffries identifies bird as Great Blue Heron

Our changing wildlife: Herons weren't around when she was growing up in Columbia, but remembers following a large crane in the 1950s

Ms Bradley Jeffries writes:
It''s a Great Blue Heron, beautiful, majestic and common where I live in SW FL. It's comfortable walking among human beach goers, especially surf fishermen, hoping for small-catch handouts. They often seem to pose for photographs.

Growing up in Columbia, I never saw one, but in late '50s followed a large crane during its stops at water holes off Old Greensburg Street (Pelham Branch Road, now -CM) Awesome. - Ms Bradley Jeffries
