PERSONAL OPINION: Jon Halsey comments on City Pool Issue

Speaking from municipally debt-free Knifley, KY, he warns Columbia City fathers and Adair County Magistrates that limitations not seen in "Foggy Bottom," prevail here. "We cannot print money. And there is a finite limit as to how far the contents of our billfold will stretch," Mr. Halsey says, positing Flowers-Hayek economics vs. Dr. Ronald P./Roosevelt/Keynesian philosophy for the City of Columbia, the County of Adair. -EW

Personal Commentary

A sitting President famously (or infamously, depending on your persuasion) said: "Elections have consequences." Just so, the actions of local Boards, elected and unelected also have consequences. Unfortunately, past actions have put us in the unenviable situation of having to place much of our community's desires and progress on hold while we try to dig our way out of the financial messes we find ourselves in.
