Comments about: Gallery of Adair Co Veterans...

Thurston Sullivan writes:
For Mike Watson,

Knew your father and uncles. You can get to a best guess location from his Military Discharge on record at the court house in Columbia. The discharge will give his unit and maybe major campaigns in which they participated. The unit also has a history of all campaigns it participated in during the war. That may provide you with the information you would like. I got a lot of information on Ben Hadley (my uncle by marriage) from his Army Discharge on record. Thanks.

Gallery of Adair Co. Veterans: Carl Watson, WWII, South Pacific

All four Watson Brothers - Carl, Cameron, Hugh, and William - sons of Milton and Mollie Reeder Watson, came home from the war. Carl Watson is the father of Adair County historian Mike Watson, the author of this article
Click on headline for item with photo(s)

By Mike Watson

With Memorial Day upon us and in conjuction with Jim's history of theDay, let me take this opportunity to submit another photo. A "modern"one. Our father, Carl Watson, son of Milton and Mollie Reeder Watson, along with all three of his brothers, Cameron, Hugh, and William, fought in World War II. All four came home.

This photo of Dad (which accompanies this article) was taken in 1943 or 1944 in the South Pacific, we never knew exactly where.

I always keep up with additions to the Veterans List on CM and havecontributed additions from time to time.

Photographs of the men and women who have served the United Stateswould be a nice addition to the collection. This Memorial Day would bea fine time to begin a collection, so I submit this single photo, andhave others that I will be happy to send.

I encourage others to do likewise. - Mike Watson

ColumbiaMagazine.com's position is that everyone should vote in every election, every opportunity they get, that it is an absolute responsibility of citizenship.

By Jon Halsey

While I have always held Ralph Waggener (Publisher of It's Just for a Smile News - CM) in high esteem as an editor, publisher and raconteur, I must take issue with his recent post.
