Whitfield Memorial Day statement

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, released the following statement today on Memorial Day:

"As Kentuckians gather this Memorial Day weekend with friends and family, I ask that you take a few minutes to reflect and remember why we celebrate Memorial Day.

"We recognize Memorial Day to honor the brave men and women who are serving and have served this great Nation in the Armed Services. Our Military personnel put themselves in harm's way so that we may live free. This Memorial Day, please take a moment to thank one of these selfless members of our military and send praise to the families and loved ones of our fallen.

"Whether you are traveling or staying at home, I wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend." Rep. Ed Whitfield (KY-1)
