She was a native of Alabama and a member of a highly respected Adair County, KY family. Mrs. Pyles was a member of the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene and was retired from Osh Kosh in Columbia, KY

Dorothy Pyles age 83 years a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab passed away Wednesday May 2, 2012 at 7:10pmCT at Summit Manor in Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Darrell Karnes and Bro. Kaitlin Allan Makes NAIA Women's Golf National Tournament Field

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Kaitlin Allan has earned an individual at-large bid to compete in the 20th annual National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women's Golf National Championships.

Allan was the top rated golfer not on a team that qualified for the national tournament and not to win medalist honors at the conference tournaments. Allan is ranked 17th in the NAIA as an individual in the latest Golfstat rating.

From biodiesel production to a district-wide Vending Miser project, to Camp Energy, students in Adair County High School's Energy Technology Academy, led by Heather Spoon, have experienced another innovative year. During a luncheon awards ceremony at the Frankfort Convention Center on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, the Adair team was recognized by the Kentucky National Energy Education Development Project at the senior level.

He was a life member of Elks Lodge, was Tennessee State Elk of the Year 1998-1999, and was a life member of VFW - Russell County, KY. He was secretarty of Henderson, TN Lodge for 14 years. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.

Three flown to UK after head-on collision near Jamestown, KY

Tanner Mann, 18; Chad Kelsay, 18; and Josh Lawless, 18, all airlifted to Lexington hospital following collision at 3:25pmCT

(JAMESTOWN, KY) - Tpr. Adam Likins is investigating a collision that occurred today at 3:25pmCT, 5 miles south of Jamestown on Warriner Ridge Road. 18-year-old Chad Kelsay from Jamestown was operating a 2001 Chevy, traveling south on Warriner Ridge when he topped the hill, crossed the center line and struck a north bound vehicle. That vehicle was a 2011 Honda operated by 17-year-old Tanner Mann of Jamestown. Kelsay and a passenger, 18-year-old Josh Lawless of Jamestown and Tanner Mann were all flown to UK Medical Center. Mann was not belted and it is unknown if Kelsay and Lawless were belted. -TFC Billy Gregory

The winners of the 2012 Eco-Art Contest are Emily Larson from Taylor County High School in Campbellsville; Stephen Welch and Erin Downs from North Bullitt High School in Shepherdsville; Jacob Turner from Western Hills High School in Frankfort; Kisaki Takeuchi from Lyon County High School in Eddyville; and Amber Pyle from Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Louisville.

COLUMBIA, KY - Adair County softball third baseman Hailey McBeath signed an NAIA scholarship to join the Lindsey Wilson College softball team for the 2012-13 season, Blue Raider head coach Ashley McCool-Cozart announced on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

McBeath is the daughter of Ron McBeath and Tammy Reece and plans to join the nursing program at Lindsey Wilson.

Judicial branch employees will be furloughed three days in 2012

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Judicial Branch employees learned today that they will be furloughed for three days in the first half of Fiscal Year 2013 as a result of deep cuts the Kentucky General Assembly made to the court system's budget for Fiscal Years 2013 and 2014. The furloughs will close courthouses statewide on August 6, September 4 and October 15, 2012.
