Lindsey Hill
was made safer today for pedestrian crossings with the installation of signs before the crossings. The photo was taken as the evening sun was putting on a light show with the crowns on Begley Chapel. The signs were installed as part of Mayor Mark D. Harris' sidewalks and safety measures.

Car found in pond, deceased driver in field .5 mile away

No foul play suspected in incident in Clinton County; investigation continues. Autopsy will be performed in Frankfort

News from Kentucky State Police Post 15

ALBANY, KY - On Sunday, January 29 at approximately 11:06amCT Trooper Tony Wells was dispatched to Huntersville Road in Clinton County to assist the Clinton County Sheriff's Office. A vehicle had been located in a pond with no one in the immediate vicinity. The day long investigation revealed that 24-year-old Casey Burchett had been driving the car but could not be located.

The Clinton County Sheriff's department was continuing the investigation and contacted KSP today just after 9amCT advising that a deceased female had been located in a field approximately 0.5 mile from where the vehicle was discovered. The deceased was identified as Casey Burchett.

Detective Russell Decker responded to the scene and is investigating. Foul play is not suspected and an autopsy will be performed in Frankfort.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 28, 2012) - A dive team from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to place sensors on a pier of the U.S. 68/KY 80 bridge over Kentucky Lake to help determine how badly it was damaged when a cargo vessel rammed the bridge Thursday night.

Mr. Watson corroborates JIM theory on 1900s UB Church site

Mike Watson traces deeds. Current Praise Assembly, original Columbia First Church of the Nazarene at 310 Jamestown Hill was site of the United Brethren Church in Columbia in early 1900s.

Link/Community Voice wins big in 2011 KPS awards

Congratulations to Sharon Burton, Allison Hollon, and Scott Bennett and the staff of the Adair County Community Voice newspaper for Awards won in the Weekly Class I weekly newspapers 2011 Excellence in Kentucky Newspapers Awards. It was an outstanding achievement. Also, The Times Journal of Russell Springs, KY is to be congratulated for its award in the Weekly Class 3 group. The complete KPA press release is at: Kentucky Press Association 2011 Excellence in Kentucky Newspapers Winners.

Among University publications, the Kentucky Kernel was the big winner, with Western Kentucky University's College Heights Herald receiving a large number of awards, as well.

News of Veterans/Patriot Guard Riders

As US Army Ranger Cory Smith made his way through South Central Kentucky this Sunday, January 29, 2012, local Patriot Guard member Joe and Pat Hare of Columbia, hooked up with him in Barren County.

Cory is on his way from Ft Benning, Ga to Indianapolis, In. on foot and bicycle to promote the plight of returning soldiers and some members of the PGR were around to show support and help where they could.

One injured in Metcalfe Co., KY 2 vehicle Collision

News from Kentucky State Police Post 15

EDMONTON, KY - Trooper Logan Richardson is investigating a collision that occurred at 7:21 pm on US 68/80, 2 west of Edmonton. Rita Houchens age 30 of Edmonton was operating a 2001 Chrysler eastbound on US 68/80. Roger Harper age 64 of Edmonton was operating a 2004 Dodge also eastbound on US 68/80.

Harper was stopped attempting to turn into a residence when Houchens failed to stop and struck the Harper vehicle in the rear. Harper was transported to TJ Sampson Community Hospital where he was treated and released. All occupants were belted.

Trooper Richardson was assisted at the scene by Metcalfe County Sheriffs Department, Fire, Rescue and EMS.
