An Organ Donor saved the life of beloved uncle

A 'kindest act' changed writer's family's life forever
About: Organ Donation Registry The need to join is right in Adair Co KY

By Dawn Baker

Becoming an organ donor is one of the kindest acts of giving a person can perform.

My uncle was diagnosed a few years ago with a liver disease that would have been fatal had he not been the recipient of a donor liver.

Anyone who knows my uncle, Harry Kimbler, knew that he did not have much longer here on this earth, but with one call his (and our) life changed forever.

The gift of life that the donor family gave to us and him will never be forgotten. I urge everyone to register now. -Dawn Baker

A Sonnet For 9/11 -by- Robert H. Stone

A Sonnet For 9/11
by Robert Stone

There are no terrorists but only those
who hope their victims will be terrified.
The motives prompting those who struck the blows
are never known by those who quickly died.

When many lives are lost so jumbled close,
it seems that Death has come in triumph grand
but Death is pouring out its daily dose
both far and wide and near and narrow planned.

One here one there another down the way
the count is mounting but it stays unknown.
There is no place in charity's survey
for those who die unhomed, unloved, alone.

Remember thousands lost in easy view
but grieve as well those gone without a clue.

Ed:

I am writing in response to your article on Organ donation. I am currently on the transplant list for a double lung transplant so I urge everyone to please sign the back of your drivers license. Tell your family members your wish to donate.

I don't think people realize that there are people right here in Adair and surrounding counties who are on the transplant list for lungs or different organs.

So please I beg of you sign the back of your license. It could be my life you save.

Thank you,
