New Col. Wm. Casey School: Students deserve best facility

About: Col Wm Casey School is in dire need of replacement

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Several things strike me as odd and concern me, regarding the current condition of the school.

The first thing that is concerning me is that the faculty shouldn't have to concern themselves with the conditions of the building which is currently housing our youth, and future of this state. These concerns should be our burden, the residents of this county.

The staff at the school have, from what I have seen first hand, do and continue to do an exceptional job at teaching our kids. We as citizens should embrace their concerns and take the torch so to speak, running.

It's our job, as parents, and residents of this county, to ensure our kids, the one's who will be taking care of us in the future, have the best possible facility to be taught and in which to house them.

For a state, that prides itself as an "education" state, the current conditions at the school, certainly don't align with that motto. I say that we all, as residents of this county, give a well deserved "Thank You," to the loving, caring, faculty by giving any all support we can to them.

Remembering Kathy Grant: She was so many thing to so many

About: Kathy Jean Gaskins Grant 55 Adair County KY

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Kathy was a good friend of mine as long as I can remember. We did simple things like riding bicycles, singing, making homemade ice cream, and taking piano lessons. She was so smart, talented, a poet, and a good person.

She was a strong person, a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was so many things to many people, and I knew when I saw her anywhere I would get a hug, and an "I love you."

Early in the day we would meet when I was coming home from work and she would be going to town to work. She would be smiling really big and waving to me. Kathy will be greatly missed by many, and I am glad to have been her friend.
