For Columbia residents Katie Burton, center, and Haley Cromwell, far right, and their fellow traveler, left, Parrott Hall's "The Insane Asylum" was a little frightening. Letter: Tom T. Hall is a great story teller

About: Rivermen of the Cumberland

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Tom T. is a great storyteller! He is not native to Tennessee. He was born and grew to adulthood in Olive Hill, Carter County KY. In the early 40's he lived on Henderson Branch.

I love his Harper Valley song and many others. I will still drive a hundred miles to his concerts!

For many of us, there was no future in Olive Hill and we had to find our life elsewhere, but it is still and will always be home. He was there for Homecoming in September. Tom has been gone since about 57 or 58 and I left in 64.

The COF writes from time-challenged Knifley, KY

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

Ain't we getting' close to that part of the year when no one knows what time it is? That time of the year when you get to the meeting house of a Sunday morn and wonder why it is that no one told you that services was cancelled. That time when your favorite radio programs seem to have gone daft cause ain't nothing on when it should be? That time when the diff'rence between Baker's and Crossroads gets even more confusing?

Comment: Halloween on the City Square

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I was so excited when I went through town tonight. The business people have done a heart warming experience for our children. It was like a fantasy to watch the kids go trick or treating in a safe and fun place. Thanks to those that brought the joy of Halloween back to our hometown. I think most of the kids went to the square we only had 2 little spooks at our house and they were very early birds. Thanks Columbia Merchants. You deserve a salute!
