Comments on Crime in the City: Masked home invader

About: PHOTO

Mr. Waggener,

I am so glad to see we currently have a 168 man living here in Columbia. I hope your magazine will run a story on just how he has became 168 years old. I am sure this would even be picked up by some of the major media networks. Thanks for the great story and a good laugh this morning.

s/Nina Wood

Thanks. But please don't tell the major media about anything in Adair County. We don't want them finding out how good we have it here. Then everybody would want to live here, and that would ruin Our Thing. Adair County is the World's Best Kept Secret, as it is. Let's keep it that way. -EW

Feedback: 168 year old man????

About: Crime in the City: Masked Home InvaderTo ColumbiaMagazine.com

168 year old man????

I know it was a typo, but it did catch my attention and was good for a grin.

God Bless,
s/Rev. Phil Parrish

Thanks. It really wasn't a typo, though technically it is a teensy bit of a stretch. We know this guy. In grumpiness, memory, looks, general contrariness, and just all around hardtogetalongwithedness, 168 is a more apt description than his actual senior age. Most people around here just look over him--pay him no mind. -CM

Along with many others, I congratulate Lauren on all she has accomplished both academically and in sports, but I am proudest that she is such a nice young lady. I cannot imagine the pride her grandfather Homer would feel if he could have been present at her signing with Campbellsville yesterday.

Of course, Uncle Mitch and I think it's great that she is going to our alma mater. Campbellsvillle University is fortunate. Lauren, continue to let your light shine - both on the golf course and in your daily walk with God. We love you.

Thank you for the quick response when a raccoon invaded our house this morning and took over the place.

Thanks to 911 for finding just the "right man for the job," and thanks to Columbia Police Officer Brad Scholl for coming so quickly.

Fortunately, the animal left the same way it got it in, and police intervention was not necessary, but thanks for being so helpful. We really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, the invader and his whole gang are still at large.

Feedback. Red Lick School group photo: 1934? or later?

About: 1934 (?) Red Lick School Group Photo

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I am writing concerning the story which accompanied the photo of the 1934 Red Lick School group which tentatively identified my father, A.J. Parrish, as one of the students. My father was born in December of 1931, which would have put him at the age of 2 1/2 - 3 years old in 1934. If my father was correctly identified, the photo would be of a later year, perhaps 1939.

s/Rev. Phil Parrish
Louisville, KY

Thanks. We'll make a note of this on the photo. Maybe your letter will inspire someone else to help on this bit of history. -EW
